ASHFORD FM radio is preparing a return to the airwaves this summer for its third trial broadcast.
Previous trials last summer and at Christmas attracted enormous support from individuals, businesses and community groups. The station will be on air from July 16 to August 12. Station manager Mark Carter said, "106.5 Ashford FM will be bigger and better than ever. What makes things even more exciting is that a permanent radio station is no longer merely a distant dream. Thanks to a recent announcement by the radio authority we know such a service will eventually become a reality."
Ashford FM will focus on local news and information, together with coverage of local events and the ever popular Create Music Festival. Those who wish to pledge their support or find out more details can write to Ashford FM, PO Box 1065, Ashford, or call on 01233 612000.

A Shepherd's border collie from Ashford which disappeared while rounding up sheep in Hythe was found ten days later in Dover. Elizabeth Ford, a contract shepherd, was panic-stricken after her beloved four-year-old Buzz suddenly took off during a day's work. Buzz ended up keeping a single man company in a bedsit in the Dover area after hopping on a train outside Folkestone. Elizabeth said, "I was absolutely beside myself. I searched the area tirelessly for him but to no avail. I put up hundreds of posters everywhere, gave out my phone number to more than 200 people and even advertised his disappearance on Neptune Radio. But he was still nowhere to be found". A few days later Elizabeth received a call from a commuter who had spotted a dog fitting Buzz's description on the Charing Cross to Dover train. Elizabeth said, "Apparently, Buzz had been put on the train at Westenhanger and was spotted getting off again at Dover. I didn't follow it up because it seemed a bit too far fetched". Nearly a week later Dover District Council contacted Elizabeth to tell her that Buzz had been found and was staying with a man in a bedsit. Elizabeth said "I couldn't believe it, the man had wanted to keep him but was persuaded by a friend to report it. I was delighted to have him back. I lost so much sleep over it and my parents even cancelled their holiday abroad because we were all so worried. I'd like to thank everyone who helped me search for Buzz". A Dover council spokesman said "We were happy to be able to reunite the dog with its rightful owner".
