Focus

This month our community focus is the Ashford Counselling Service.

What does it offer?
The level of change in life today - in the job market, redundancies and unemployment, in family life, divorce or separation, loss and bereavement can lead to isolation, loss of self esteem and loss of confidence.
these factors and many others can lead to emotional distress. Often the need is for time, space and safety to express feelings, to feel understood and to discover the way forward.

The counselling service can enable people to recognise their own strengths and find more effective ways of coping. It is also confidential.

What is it?
In the counselling sessions people have time to talk through their concerns. Some people may find a few sessions on specific areas helpful but others may want longer term counselling.
During your first session you have the opportunity to talk to a counsellor about your needs and expectations and raise any questions you may have about counselling. If you and the counsellor think counselling will be helpful, further sessions may be arranged.
All counsellors at The Ashford Counselling Service are bound by The British Association For Counselling's code of ethics and practice.

How much will it cost?
Although Ashford Counselling Service is a registered charity, it needs to cover its costs, so clients are expected to contribute an affordable sum for each counselling session. Ashford Counselling Service operates a sliding scale so your contribution will be in line with your ability to pay. Your contribution will be discussed at your first session. By working in this way the service aims to be open to all.

If you would like more information or wish to make an appointment you can telephone them on 01233-610083. Please leave your name and phone number on the answerphone and you will be contacted as soon as possible. Alternatively you can write to them at the following address:
